3 February 2021 - The Global Deal is pleased to welcome Europêche, an employers’ organisation representing the European fishing industry, to the partnership. Europêche is the representative body for fishermen in the European Union representing around 45,000 vessels, both artisanal and large scale; 80,000 fishermen; and counting 16 member organisations from 10 European countries. By joining the Global Deal, Europêche has committed to facilitate and promote social dialogue on sea fisheries within the EU and globally and develop guidelines both on the recruitment of migrant fishers, and for their medical examinations. Furthermore, Europêche has committed to promote the ratification and implementation of international instruments setting standards on safety and working conditions in the fisheries sector.
